Assistant Coaches, Trainers and Staff

Assistant Coach Greg Le Count Greg LeCount returns to the Foothill staff for his sixth season. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Coach Trakk as he is fondly known, has lead several programs to championship titles. In his over 20 years of coaching, he has experience coaching AAU and numerous high school teams out of state. In addition to his expertise in post development and defensive strategy, Trakk has headed up all Basketball Operations for the Owls and has been instrumental in the marketing, promotions and fundraising area of the Foothill program. Greg is the manager and director of his own Recreation Company located in Sacramento which is also where he currently resides with his wife Lydia and their family.
Assistant Coach Derek Kameda Derek is beginning his sixth year with the highly successful Foothill Women's Basketball program. Derek brings a wide range of experience to the program. Moving into the role of first assistant Coach D will serve as the program's recruiting coordinator as well assist in scouting, game planning and on the floor coaching responsibilities. Derek also currently coaches in both the Asian-club and AAU circuits. In addition, he has coached at all levels of basketball including grade, middle, and high school (Carlmont, Sacred Heart Prep, and Pinewood). At the latter, he earned two CCS Championships, one Nor Cal, and one State Championship as an Assistant. Born and raised in the San Jose area, Derek attended the University of Pittsburgh. He currently resides locally with his wife, Nadji.
Assistant Coach Irene Oliveira Irene Oliveira comes to Foothill College for her first season on staff with nine years coaching experience at the high school level. Coach O, who is known for her structured offense and high-pressure defensive coaching style will make a smooth transition to the college level assisting with scouting, game planning and on the floor coaching with the Owls. Coach Oliveira lead Carlmont High School to a Central Coast Section Division 1 Championship in 2006-2007, as well with Division 1 Nor Cal births in both the 2006 and 2007 seasons. For three consecutive seasons from 2006-2009, the Scots were also PAL South County and League Champions. In addition to Basketball, Coach O also has a 2005-2006 CCS Division 1 Volleyball Championship Title under her belt. After graduating from Foothill College, Irene went on to get a BS in Kinesiology from Cal State University Hayward, a MA in Education from San Francisco State University and is currently a full time teacher at Carlmont High School. Irene was born in Hong Kong and now resides in San Mateo.
Assistant Coach Tracy Gipson Tracy Gipson joins the Foothill staff for his first season having spent the last years as a player development coach in the San Jose area. Coach Gipson will continue in this role with the Owls as well as assist with scouting and recruiting responsibilities. Tracy was a 5'10" guard and four-year starter at Valparaiso University where he was one of the most productive players to wear a Crusader uniform, ranking among the top 10 in seven statistical categories. Coach Tracy averaged 21.3 points and became the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,785 points. He earned First Team All-Mid-Continent Conference honors in 1993 after being named Second Team All-Mid-Con as a sophomore and junior. He currently resides in San Jose with his wife Talaya and their family.
Assistant Coach Mikail Price Mikail Price is entering her second year as an assistant coach for the Foothill Women's Basketball team. She is a former Owl who earned First Team All-League honors both years, Coast Conference MVP her sophomore year and she also was First Team All-State in the 2005-06 season. After obtaining her AA at Foothill, she transferred to the University of Nevada- Reno where she played for two years and graduated with her BA in General Studies with a double minor, one in Communications and one in Ethnic Studies. Her achievements at Nevada included WAC All Academic team for the 2006-07 and 2007-08 season. Coach Price will bring her knowledge from playing at the Division 1 level to assist with player development and recruiting and hopes to learn more about coaching at this level. She has plans to become a successful head coach of a women's program in the future.
Trainer Michelle Schukraft Michelle Schukraft, ATC begins her fifth season as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for Foothill College and the Women's Basketball Trainer. Prior to joining the Foothill Sports Medicine Staff, Michelle worked as the Head Trainer at Evergreen HS for two years and has been the Head Athletic Trainer for the San Jose Stealth (professional lacrosse) team for four years. She was raised in Durham, CA and came to San Jose to earn her Bachelors degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training from San Jose State University.
