A minimum of 90 units required to include:

• Completion of 3 units of BTEC 56 (X, Y or Z)
• Completion of 6 additional units of BTEC short courses
• MATH 10 Elementary Statistics (5 units)

• MATH 101, recent high school algebra or Foothill College Math Proficiency Exam

ASSOCIATE DEGREE OPTION
A two year expanded program in Biotechnology is also available. This two-year course sequence leads to an Associate in Science degree in Biotechnology, and offers the student the ability to transfer to a four year program or to enter the job market with additional technical and theoretical training and background.

APPLICATIONS
• Date AVAILABLE: September 15 online at: www.foothill.edu/bio/program/biotech/ and from the Biological and Health Sciences Division office. Call 650/949-7538 or pick up an application in Room 5211.
• APPLICATION DEADLINE: The preliminary deadline for admission for Fall is June 30 (Upon filing the completed application & support documentation, students meeting all prerequisites are accepted until the program is full).
• TRANSCRIPTS: High school or college transcripts are required in English. Please request all transcripts to be mailed to the attention of the Biotechnology Program at the address below.
• FOREIGN TRANSCRIPTS: ALL foreign transcripts and degrees must be evaluated and translated into equivalent college semester hours of credit. Please see application or talk to a counselor for further information.

The Biotechnology curriculum is an intensive nine-month sequence of instruction, with new students admitted to the program each Fall. This program is designed to prepare students for jobs as entry-level laboratory technicians in a variety of areas, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical laboratories. Students who complete the program in a satisfactory manner will be awarded a Career Certificate in Biotechnology. Completion of the program allows graduates to compete for jobs in laboratories involved in research, product development, manufacturing, quality control, and clinical studies.
