| Dental Assisting (2005-2006) |
The Dental Assisting Curriculum is an intensive ten month sequence of instruction, with entry only in the Fall Quarter for thirty full-time students. The program is also available on a part-time basis, with entry in Fall, Winter or Spring quarter. The same application requirements apply. Course offerings include coronal polishing as well as a x-ray license. Students who complete the entire program in a satisfactory manner will be awarded a Career Certificate in Dental Assisting and will qualify for the Registered Dental Assistant Examination of the State of California and the Dental Assisting National Board Examination. All qualified students will be notified of their acceptance and contacted for an orientation.
Students who are interested only in the Career Certificate must complete all the core dental assisting courses and obtain a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (Health Care Provider, American Heart Association). In addition, the Career Certificate in Dental Assisting has an English and mathematics requirement. The English requirement for the Dental Assisting program is eligibility for English 110 (or equivalent) or for ESL 25 (or equivalent). The math requirement is completion of Math 200 (or equivalent). |

Associate Degree Requirements: |
• English proficiency: ENGL 1A, ESL 26 or equivalent.
• Mathematics proficiency: MATH 103/105 or equivalent.
A minimum of 90 units required to include:
• All General Education requirements
• Required courses (44.5 Units)
• electives & other graduation requirements as appropriate. |

PREREQUISTIES
Admission to the Dental Assisting Curriculum is based on a high school diploma or equivalent. Program available on full-time or part-time basis. Program information, admission criteria details and applications can be found at the Dental Assisting Program website.
NOTE: Physical examinations and immunizations are required to attend most clinical internships. Background screening and drug testing may be required by clinical facilities. Positive results could impact a student's chances of attending clinics, completing the program requirements or gaining a license to practice upon graduation. The cost of required physical examinations, background screenings and drug tests will be paid by the student. Students accepted into the program will be provided with specific details.

Students who meet the minimum qualifications are awarded a position in the program until the program is filled. If openings are available part-time, students can enter in Fall, Winter, or Spring. All students who meet the minimum qualifications will be contacted for an orientation.
