Biotechnique Courses (no application necessary):
These courses are meant for anyone interested in taking a class to update
their lab skills in a specific area. Upon completion, these courses can be applied
to the requirements in the Biotechnology Program. http://www.foothill.edu/bio/programs/biotech/short.php
Certificates of Specialization (application required):
We are now offering three smaller certificates that take about two part-time quarters
to complete. The coursework in each of these certificates will provide you with a
strong grasp of Cellular, Molecular or Immunological Techniques used in the Biotech
industry. All of these certificates start with BTEC 51A and BTEC 51A Lab, so if
you are interested in any of the three, apply to the program and sign up for these
two classes that are offered during the Fall Quarter.
Certificate of Achievement (application required):
Completion of this 9-month program allows graduates to compete for jobs in laboratories
involved in research, product development, manufacturing, quality control and clinical studies.
In addition to laboratory skills, the program emphasizes scientific method, record keeping,
safety, communication, and teamwork. This is a full-time, lab-intensive series of
instruction that begins in Fall Quarter only and requires an application. This certificate
also begins with BTEC51A and BTEC51ALab, so once you apply, sign up for these two classes in the Fall Quarter.
Associate's Degree in Biotechnology:
Upon completion of the Certificate of Achievement, you may also choose to pursue an
Associate's Degree in Biotechnology in your second year of study.
