The Volunteer Center (VC) supports student, campus and community service by offering several ways for students to volunteer depending on each student's interests and availability. Students interested in volunteering should visit the center in Lower Campus Center, Room of Intramurals, and complete a Volunteer Profile Form. The SLVC provides information for ongoing Volunteer Opportunities as well as done-in-a-day projects.
Students can also earn college credit by enrolling in SOSC 79: Introduction to Community Service. Students interested in this course should contact the VC as soon as possible.
In addition, the VC and on-campus Financial Aid Office now offer the Community Service Work Study Program. Students who qualify for federal work study can complete work-study assignments at local non-profit agencies.
Each year the VC hosts two on-campus volunteer fairs enabling students to meet representatives from local non-profit agencies. The VC also sponsors service projects and events throughout the year.

Steve Mitchell — Director of Service Learning/ Volunteer Center/ & Intramural Recreation
Since 2002, Steve has been connecting Foothill students with non-profit organizations in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. Every fall and spring quarter, Steve coordinates a volunteer fair that hosts dozens of these organizations right here on our campus.
Steve and his staff are available to assist you every step of the way, from locating an agency, to developing community service skills.
Besides his work here at Foothill, Steve also works with local at-risk youth to help them develop into positive and productive members of the community. Steve's philosophy is the best way to feel good about yourself is to help someone else.
