If you find that courses needed for a certificate or degree are unavailable, the college has a course substitution process whereby courses that you may have already completed, or courses that you plan to take, can be used to substitute for a required course. This process can be used for all certificates and degrees in the college but may be most useful for students in the process of finishing up courses for certificates and degrees that were part of the CTIS division.
Course substitutions are not automatic. They are petitioned though a counselor and approved or denied by faculty and the dean of the respective division.
To complete a petition for course substitution you will need to -
1) Complete a Course substitution petition form available at this link: http://foothill.edu/reg/forms/petition_substitution_form.pdf
As the Course substitution petition form notes, you may need to provide transcripts and course descriptions for courses not taken at Foothill.
2) Then meet with a counselor. You can make a counseling appointment from this link: http://foothill.edu/counseling/counselappt.php
Note that with the reorganization of the CTIS Division, the counselor will direct the petition to one of the following divisions:
