English and math placement will start on Monday, August 24. You will receive an email from our office in late July with your test group, which will specify your individual date and time for testing. If you do not receive your individual testing date and time by the beginning of August, you may contact foothillinternational@foothill.edu. International Counseling 50, a mandatory counseling course for all new F-1 students, will take place August 31 to September 11.

Please note that the general New Student Orientation offered by Foothill College a week before classes start is not a substitute to the mandatory orientation organized by the International Programs Office. All new F-1 international students must attend the special orientation (see the schedule below).

The orientation program provides a comprehensive introduction to the most important information topics and tools for your student success. Representatives of many key offices and centers on campus make special time to meet with new international students, such as Admissions & Records, Counseling Center, Health Services Office, Psychological Services, Honors Institute, Student Activities & Student Government, Library, and Transfer Center.
Finally, orientation is designed to give you an opportunity to become accustomed to American life and culture and build long-lasting friendships.

Immigration regulations and maintaining F-1 visa status
Class Registration All F-1 students who have never attended a college or university in the United States are required to attend orientation before being able to register for classes.
