Foothill Has High-Wage, High-Demand Career Programs
Get the Career Planning Employers Demand

Lab Tech PhotoIf you’re in between jobs, anticipating a corporate downsizing or want to explore new career options, Foothill College can help you achieve your goals. Our certificate programs can be completed in two years or less and feature more than 40 programs. Last year, more than 1,300 students earned career certificates by completing our intensive career training programs.

Students who complete Foothill career programs are aggressively recruited for high-wage, high-demand jobs, particularly in the fields of health care and computer technology. Employers value Foothill graduates and pay our graduates more than the state’s average wage. In some cases, Foothill students will earn twice the state average wage for similar positions, according to state wage data reports. For instance, our computer programming students are paid on average 56 percent more; dental hygiene students are paid 66 percent more; and graphic arts students are paid about double the state average.

“You’re not going to get a better education anywhere else. Foothill programs will give you the training you need for a good, stable job that pays a good wage,” says Foothill Vice President of Instruction & Institutional Research Bill Patterson. “Aside from the high quality of Foothill programs, we are the only school offering degrees and certificates in many of these high-wage, high-demand programs.”

Foothill also gives you a comprehensive education. A Foothill degree or certificate means that you have completed course work designed to improve your ability to communicate, compute, think analytically and critically, and work collaboratively with large and small groups—the exact critical life skills that employers demand.

Industry leaders not only hire Foothill students, they work closely with our faculty to continually develop new career programs to address critical shortages of qualified workers, particularly in health care. As an example, Foothill is working with leading area medical facilities to develop new programs such as radiation therapy technology, nuclear medicine and polysomnography that may be offered as soon as next fall.
Foothill also offers a variety of student services to help you succeed, including job fairs, financial aid packages, resume writing and interviewing technique workshops, career assessment courses, internship opportunities, and academic and career counseling.
