MyPortal
To register for classes, you must use MyPortal, located at MyPortal.fhda.edu. For a fast overview of the registration process, download the Student Registration Guide here. To access the portal, you need to know your Campuswide ID/SID (CWID/SID). You'll use a temporary password to log in the first time.

Applying for Admission

When you apply for admission to Foothill College, you will be asked for your Social Security Number (SSN). You have the right to decline to provide your Social Security Number. However, there are several reasons why it may be to your advantage to provide your SSN. These include:

  • Financial Aid – Your SSN is required if you are applying for federal and state financial aid programs.
  • Easier Access to MyPortal (Coming June 1, 2010) – To reset your MyPortal password if you forget it, you'll need to use the last 4 digits of your SSN.
  • Tax Credits and Deductions – Providing your SSN helps you (or someone claiming you as a dependent) receive tax credits or deductions to which you are entitled.

What's My Campuswide ID/Student ID?

Your CWID/SID is an 8-digit, system-generated number that can be used in place of your Social Security number. You can use your CWID/SID or your Social Security number to conduct most of your college business. However, we encourage you to use your CWID/SID to conduct college transactions, including registration, fee payment, transfer requests, and many other services that require identification.

  • If you are a new student, your CWID/SID will be generated and e-mailed to you after you submit your application.

  • If you are a continuing or former student at Foothill College or De Anza College, a CWID/SID has been automatically assigned to you. If you don't know it, you can look it up by following the steps below.

How to Get Your CWID/SID

  1. Go to the registration system at http://myportal.fhda.edu/
  2. Enter the appropriate login information.
  3. You will be directed to the Main Menu.
  4. Select the Student ID Lookup link.
  5. Your new 8-digit CWID/SID will be displayed.
  6. Write down your CWID/SID and store it in a safe place. Because your records can be accessed with your CWID/SID, you should protect it as you would any other important personal information. Do not share your CWID/SID with anyone.

By using your CWID/SID, you're helping Foothill-De Anza prevent identity theft. By law, we will not use your Social Security number unless absolutely necessary, as in the case of financial aid or student employment.
