What Is FAFSA?

What does is mean to be selected for Verification?

Applying For Financial Aid

Applying for financial aid is free and convenient. The first step in receiving financial aid is completing and submitting the required application documents:

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may complete the online application by accessing the FAFSA Web site at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.

  • To be certain that Foothill College will receive your information electronically, you will be asked to fill in a federal school code, which is 001199.

After your FAFSA application is received, the following will occur:

  • Foothill College Financial Aid Office will send you an email along with instructions to view your application status at www.myportal.fhda.edu. You can then access the site and check your application status and print any additional forms needed to complete your application.

  • The verification review will not be finished until all the supporting documents are provided by the student (and parents, if applicable). Awards made after the review process are accessible through the www.myportal.fhda.edu as well.

The director will then determine if adjustments to your expected budget or contribution are necessary.
