The Transition to Work Program (TTW) is a 12-month vocational program designed for students with disabilities who can function independently on a college campus but may not have the ability to succeed in a traditional college classroom. Focused instruction gives TTW students the opportunity to develop specific job skills. Students receive on-the-job training at the Foothill campus and enroll in communication, social skills, physical education, and other vocational focused classes.

Being able to participate and do classroom assignments as well as having appropriate behavior for a college campus is key to being admitted into the TTW program. TTW is a vocational program for people with disabilities who can function independently on a college campus, but may not be able to handle the academics at this time of mainstream college classes.

The final grade for a class is based upon a combination of factors: attendance, class participation, homework, projects and test scores. Students are expected to take all the classes. TTW graduation is held at the end of the spring quarter. Students who have completed all classes are given an Award of Appreciation/Completion. Awards of Participation are given to students who attend classes for the four quarters, but do not take or pass every class.

Punctuality and regular attendance are important characteristics of successful workers. Therefore, students are expected to come to class on time and be prepared with all the necessary materials. Tardiness and absenteeism is evaluated early and if not corrected may lead to a student's dismissal from the program.

  Students learn specific job skills including office technology and computer usage.
• Job Search Classes
  Students learn skills such as writing their own resumes and interviewing for jobs.
• On-The-Job Training
  Students participate in an on-the-job training experience at Foothill College.
• Personal Development Classes
  Students enroll in a variety of classes including Communication, Social Skills, and Physical Education.

Students are expected to follow college policies and the student code of conduct. Students committing serious infractions may be dismissed from the program at any time.

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENTS TO SEEK HELP FROM THE INSTRUCTOR OR CLASSROOM ASSISTANTS WHEN THEY ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY UNDERSTANDING THE MATERIAL PRESENTED IN A CLASS.
