Game 1
Foothill was back on the field for their first road games of the year versus
Los Medanos College. The Owls scored first on RBI doubles from Aaliyah James
and Veronica Dorsey plating Molly Vivo and James. Mendocino answered in the
bottom of the first inning with 2 runs on 4 hits. Top of the 2nd inning the
Owls took the lead for good as they scored 8 runs led by a 3 run HR by 1st
year 3B Desiree Diaz. Vivo, Christina Mendoza, James, Dorsey, and Veronica Viar
each had multi-hit games. Vivo improved to 2-0 on the year.
Game 2
The 2nd game saw Monica Volz pitch a no-hit shutout, her second of her career.
Volz threw 5 innings giving up 2 BB and had 6 strikeouts in the 9-0 win improving
her record to 2-0. Vivo was the catalyst of the offense hitting in the leadoff spot.
She finished the day 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored and had a stolen base. Dorsey was 3
for 4 and James was 2 for 4, each with a pair of RBI and runs scored.
Game 1
Foothill College opened the 2013 season with a 7 run first inning and didn't look
back beating Mendocino College 11-7. Foothill pounded 14 hits in the victory. Molly
Vivo picked up her first win of the year after medically redshirting her 2012 season.
Kelsey Moore had 3 hits driving in 2 RBI and scoring twice. Desire Diaz had two
doubles, 3 RBI, and also scored twice.
Game 2
Game two of the doubleheader saw sophomore Monica Volz in the circle. She pitched
a 1 hit shuthout giving up her only hit in the top of the 2nd inning leading Foothill
to a 9-0 win in 5 innings. First year catcher Aaliyah James led the offense going 2
for 3 with a 2B, an RBI, and 2 runs scored.
