2006 Foothill Women's Soccer Team Update

2006 Women's Soccer Team

Foothill advances to the first round of the Northern California Playoffs Sat. Nov. 18 against Modesto.  Modesto is currently ranked 4th in Northern California while Foothill is ranked 13th.

Congratulations to freshman forward Vanessa Krause #8 who earned “Coast Conference Player of the Year”.  Vanessa finished 2nd in the state of CA in number of assists.  She finished the season with 13 goals and 19 assists, 45 points.  Vanessa also earned 1st team All Conference and 1st team All-Northern California.

Judy Ocampo #1 played in every minute of every game in goal for the Owls in 2005 and 2006.  Judy finished the season with 12 goals against and 120 saves in 20 games.  Judy is the “Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year”, 1st Team All-Conference and All-Northern California.

Sydney Wersching #2 finished the regular season ranked fifth in California in assists.  She had 5 goals and 16 assists, 26 points.  Sydney also earned 1st Team All- Conference.  “Sydney had an excellent two years at Foothill and is responsible for bringing a winning attitude and a whole lot of fun to our team”, said Coach Liner  Sydney was also one of the team captains.

Jenna Smith #11 finished the regular season with 10 goals and 6 assists, 26 points.  “This is a fantastic achievement for a defensive midfielder”, remarked Liner.  “ Jenna also earned 1st team All-Conference honors and is one of our team captains.  “Jenna is the kind of all around player and person you only get to coach a few times in a career” said Coach Liner. 

Allison Biser #7  is the 4th Biser sister to play soccer for Coach Liner at Foothill.  Allison's responsible for much of our success this season and a main reason we reached to playoffs.  She had a season ending injury with four games left in the season but remains a leader on this special team, said Liner.  Alli is also a team captain and earned 1st Team All-Conference with her great play in the back and midfield.

Becky Ngoon #10 played an important role for the Owls this season.  She played almost every position of the field the seasonBecky possesses all the qualities needed to be a top player at to highest level, comments Liner. Becky earned 2nd Team All-Conference this season.

Tierney Powers #9 also earned 2nd Team All-Confenence in 2006 with aggressive man marking.  Tierney scored 5 very important goals this season each coming of set pieces.  “T-Rock as Liner calls her is great at heading the ball with direction”.  

Alicia Carrara #6 was also selected as 2nd Team All-Conference because of all around great play.  “Alicia played in the back for the Owls because of her speed and toughness”, said Liner 


Coach Tom Liner credits all of his players in making it to the playoffs and a record of 14-4-2.  In 2006 Liner, for the second time is his ten seasons at Foothill was named Coast Conference Coach of the year.  “This recognition is an honor, yet understand it is my players who really earned the award”!!!
