Coach Owen Flannery
Meet the Coach Owen Flannery

Owen Flannery was hired as the head coach for Foothill College in 2007. Since then the Foothill College team has won the Coast Conference League Championship three years in a row; 2008, 2009, 2010 and again in 2012.

The Women’s soccer team had not won the league championship in over two decades prior to hiring Coach Flannery. During the last three seasons the team has won 48 games, lost 12 games and tied 6. In 2008, Coach Flannery was honored with the Coast Conference Coach of the Year award.

Menlo College

Coach Flannery spent the 2003-2006 seasons transforming the Menlo College Women's soccer program. The year before he arrived at Menlo College the team's record was 0-15. In just four years the team was able to improve their record to 42-28-5, including three consecutive California Pacific Conference Championships. Coach Flannery was again honored by being voted Coach of the Year in both 2004 and 2005.

Club Soccer

Owen Flannery is the Director of Coaching for the Alpine Strikers Soccer Club, which is now one of the biggest soccer clubs in District II. The club has over 50 teams and has increased their number of teams each year that Owen has been there. As a club coach, Flannery’s teams have won many California State Cup Championships and many other premier tournaments.

Education

Coach Flannery received his Masters Degree in Sports Psychology from John F. Kennedy University and was an undergraduate at SJSU, where he studied Kinesiology. Coach Flannery has a USSF A License, NSCAA Premier Diploma and has a Double-Goal Coaching certification card from the Positive Coaching Alliance.

Playing Experience

Owen grew up playing in San Francisco for the Vikings Soccer Club. He was selected numerous times to play on the Cal-North ODP team and was recruited to play at SJSU. Coach Flannery won the "Athlete of the Year" awards both his Junior and Senior years at Drew HS in San Francisco. Owen played both forward and defender growing up and in college. His senior year his SJSU Spartans went undefeated and were ranked #1 in the country by the NSCAA.
