Katy Ripp is entering her eighth season as the head coach of the
Foothill Owls. For the past six consecutive seasons, the Foothill
Owl Volleyball team has placed 1st in the Coast Conference
North Division. In 2006-2010 seasons, the team has finished
as one of the top 8 Northern California teams. Foothill College
has produced 2 All-Americans and multiple All Region Players
within the 8 years of Katy's coaching.
Prior to her arrival at Foothill, Coach Ripp served as an
assistant women's volleyball coach at Stanford University
from July 2002 through February 2004. She went to Stanford
after assisting at Santa Clara University from July 2001
through July 2002 and CSU Sonoma from March 1999 through July 2001.
Before her coaching career, Coach Ripp played professionally on
the Bud Light Professional Beach Volleyball Tour from 1993
to 1997 and was named the Bud Light Surprise Player of the
Year in 1993. She played in professional indoor leagues in
Italy from 1996 to 1997 as well as for the National Volleyball
Association's Orange County Diggers in 1996. She played in the
Associated Volleyball Professional Beach Volleyball
Doubles League from 1998 to 2002 and placed a career-best
third at a BVA Tour event at San Diego in 2000 with partner
Stephanie Cox.
Coach Ripp played collegiate volleyball at the University of
the Pacific from 1989 to 1993, serving as a team captain in
the 1992-1993 seasons. During her senior year in 1993, she
earned Academic All-American honors, was named UOP's NCAA
Woman Athlete of the Year and graduated cum laude. Katy
has a MA in Kinesiology from St. Mary's College, CLAD teaching
credential from Loyola Marymount, and a BA in Sociology from
University of Pacific.
Katy and her husband Joe live in Los Gatos, California and
have two boys. Joe Ripp runs Vision Volleyball Club,
regarded as one of the top volleyball clubs in the country.
