Radiologic Technologists use their knowledge of physics, human anatomy and physiology to create permanent medical images. The Radiologic Technology Program has been in operation since 1961 and is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, the Radiation Health Branch of the State of California, and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The program has an excellent reputation within the community and throughout California for providing well-qualified Radiologic Technologists.
After 22 consecutive months of competency based, clinical, classroom and laboratory instruction, students receive an Associate of Science Degree in Radiologic Technology and qualify to take the California State and National Registry Exam.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Upon completion of the Radiologic Technology Program graduates will demonstrate entry-level competency skills in accordance with national and state regulatory agencies.
- Upon completion of the Radiologic Technology Program graduates will value and implement proper radiation safety for patients, self, and others.
Job opportunities are available in various settings such as hospitals, health care facilities, physicians offices, mobile imaging companies, industrial plants, research centers, government agencies, commercial sales and marketing. Starting salaries are approximately $65,000 per year. An average salary is between $75,000 and $90,000 per year. Opportunities for advancement are in management, research, education, ultrasonography, computerized tomography, mammography, and magnetic resonance imaging.

Associate Degree Requirements:
• English proficiency: ENGL 1A, ESLL 26 or equivalent.
• Mathematics proficiency: MATH 105 or equivalent.
A minimum of 90 units required to include:
• All General Education requirements
• Required courses (101 Units)
• Electives & other graduation requirements as appropriate.
NOTE: Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or better in all college course work and a letter grade of "C" or better in each Radiology Core course.
|AS = Associate in Science Degree.|
• High School graduation or a valid G.E.D.
• Grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
• High School algebra or MATH 220, or equivalent college level course with a grade of "C" or better within the past three years, or completion of a higher math, or placement into MATH 105 on the Foothill College placement test. Note: MATH 105 or higher does not need to be within three years.
• CHEM 30A, CHEM 25, CHEM 10 or any equivalent college chemistry that includes a lab with a grade of "C" or better.
• BIOL 40A, 40B & 40C or a semester of Anatomy and a semester of Physiology. Anatomy and Physiology studied in a language other than English will not be considered.
• AHS 200 or Medical Terminology of 2 units or more with a grade of "C" or better.
• RT 200L or equivalent with a grade of C or better.
• Eligibility for ESLL 26 or ENGL 1A.
NOTE: Physical examinations and immunizations are required for clinical internships. Background screening and drug testing may be required by clinical facilities. Positive results could impact a student's chances of attending clinics, completing the program requirements or gaining a license to practice upon graduation. The cost of required physical examinations, background screenings and drug tests will be paid by the student. Students accepted into the program will be provided with specific details.

Counseling: It is strongly recommended that each applicant schedule a consultation with a Foothill College counselor prior to submitting an application to the Radiologic Technology Program.
NOTE: A computer competency course or equivalency is required for all Radiologic Technology students before they graduate from the program.
