Travel Careers 2009-2010 |
The travel and tourism industry is one of the worlds largest employers. Our training enables students to become consultants who plan and arrange travel itineraries. Typical responsibilities include: selling vacation and cruise packages; making reservations for business and leisure travelers; interpreting complex schedules and brochures for the client; computing fares and issuing tickets; preparing invoices, vouchers and other office forms; researching and providing travel information.
The travel consultant should have a strong interest in various cultures and in world travel. He or she must enjoy working with people, be able to function under pressure and pay attention to detail.
On-the-job internships can also be arranged through the program for any interested student who meets minimum department requirements.
The Foothill Travel Careers Program is a member of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) and is a licensed school with The Travel Institute, and CLIA, the Cruise Lines International Association. |
