The Career Focus speakers series, sponsored by the Foothill College Career Center, features industry professionals providing informative discussions, personal experiences, and practical advice. The Career Center focuses on helping students choose a major as well as preparing them to enter the work force. By attending Career Focus presentations, you'll gain new insight into the real world of work, learn the pros and cons about a particular career, and make educated decisions about entering a profession or obtaining further education.

Career in Psychotherapy: Christopher Harrison, Ph.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice and Clinical Director at the Sequoia Center, an alcohol and drug addiction treatment facility in Redwood City, CA. Dr. Harrison previously worked at the Stanford University School of Medicine where he helped to develop and deliver a smoking cessation protocol for a National Cancer Institute funded study on nicotine dependence in adolescents. In addition to his interest in addiction research and treatment, Dr. Harrison is passionate about helping others explore and implement practical methods to cultivate peace and wellness in daily life.

Career in Green Technology: Rich Hilt has been involved in the energy business for over 35 years - much of it directly in CleanTech. His experiences include energy management for a $2B Fortune 100 company, and the natural gas industry in Washington D.C., and electric power industry, publishing several important studies on the financial and operational impact of deregulation. Rich was a partner in a distributed generation business serving the energy needs of Big Box Retailers. He's contributed his skills to several CleanTech startups. He was a Founding Partner in Arare Ventures -- first time VCs focused on CleanTech. He was a cofounder of LiveFuels, an algae-to-biofuels startup. He was part of a syndicate formed to develop a 1,000 hectare algae farm in Chile. Rich has been quoted on energy issues in The New York Times, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal and written commentaries for numerous business blogs including Venture Beat. He has been interviewed for Moscow Evening News on the global markets for energy technologies. He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master's of Science in Thermal Sciences, a Master of Arts in Economics, and the Ph.D in Public Policy.
