Teaching and directing child development programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-age children
Operating a family child care home or child care center
Working in an Afterschool program
Being a parenting educator
Being a childbirth educator
Joining a family as a nanny or Au Pair

Working in a group home for children
Supporting a teacher as a classroom instructional aide

Child Development Career Information

California's Employment Development Department (EDD) has estimated that between 2004-2014 there will be a 22.4% increase in employment opportunities for preschool teachers, and a 37.3% increase for special education teachers (preschool-elementary).
