Connecting Remotely with MacSSH (Mac OS 8/9)

How to Connect

  1. Open the MacSSH Program by double-clicking on the application.

  2. Pull down the File/Open Connection menu item.

  3. Enter losaltos.fhda.edu into the Host Name field and click the Connect button.

    If you are unable to connect to losaltos.fhda.edu, try one of the following:

    losaltos.fhda.edu
    kyoto.fhda.edu
    paris.fhda.edu
    london.fhda.edu

  4. A login window will open asking for your username and password. Enter in the username and password you obtained from the account server and press the OK button... remember, this information is case-sensitive!

  5. If this is the first time you have connected to this host using SSL, a window will be displayed asking that you accept the host key fingerprint.

    Click the Accept & Save button.

A Successful Login Will Show This Screen

If you were successful, you are shown the welcome message and the $ UNIX prompt waiting for you to type a UNIX command and press the ReturnKey.

Logging Off the Server and Quitting MacSSH

  1. To exit the connection to our UNIX system, type:

    $    exit

  2. Use the File/Quit menu command to quit the MacSSH Program.
