Winner of Bay Area Theatre Critics' Circle, Dean Goodman and Drama Logue Awards for Choreography, Bubba was a Walt Disney Discovery and Kid of the Kingdom. He became one of the youngest choreographers for Walt Disney World Resorts. Choreographer for Ram's Head Big Game Gaieties. Bubba has served on the Board of Directors of The Association of Asian Pacific American Artists in Los Angeles which advocates for cultural diversity in casting, the selection Jury for the Peninsula Community Foundation for new, emerging, and residency art grants and The California State Talent Competition.
Active in the community, Gong has appeared on National Telethon for Muscular Dystrophy, and chaired Fundraising benefits for AARP and On Lok Self Help for the Elderly. Commissioned by The Chinese Historical and Cultural Society for the Ballet: Pu Yi, the Last Emperor presented in St. James Park in San Jose he served as Executive Director of Miss Chinatown USA and Nisei Week Festivals in Los Angeles. He is featured in Profiles in Excellence: Chinese Americans and was honored by The Chinese Historical Society of America.

Gong has appeared on National Telethons for Muscular Dystrophy and St. Jude, and worked with Mary Martin's Heart of Hollywood. Named to Who's Who Among America's Teachers, this Mississippi born native son has racked an array of professional credits from starring with Pat Suzuki in Flower Drum Song and The King and I to soap opera General Hospital and prime time series Trapper John M.D. Bubba is Director of dance at Foothill College, the first tenure track position hired in dance and founder and artistic director of the award winning Foothill Repertory Dance Company.

At Foothill College, Gong established a Scholarship continuing Dance Studies, won national recognition for his Dance and Cheer Teams from United Spirit Association, and 4 consecutive Olympiad of the Arts First Place Honors for his mentoring of Student Choreographers.. Implementing collaboration, workshops, dance research and exchange, Bubba has brought dance residencies and artists including Alvin Ailey, Gregory Hines, Pilobolus, and The Bolshoi Ballet Company to FOOTHILL.

Presently, he is on the Adjudicating Dance Fellowship Panel of Silicon Valley Arts Council.

Barbara Shewfelt teaches in both the Biology Department and the Dance Department at Foothill College. As an undergraduate, she earned a bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara as a double major in both disciplines, and went on to complete a master's degree in dance from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and a master's degree in biology from Stanford University with a research specialization in neuroscience.

Barbara also spent five years as a competitive ballroom dancer. She has taught at Foothill for 15 years, offering popular classes in biology, ballet, stretching and social dance.
