BA - Communications/Economics, StanfordGong has appeared on National Telethons for Muscular Dystrophy and St. Jude, and worked with Mary Martin's Heart of Hollywood. Named to Who's Who Among America's Teachers, this Mississippi born native son has racked an array of professional credits from starring with Pat Suzuki in Flower Drum Song and The King and I to soap opera General Hospital and prime time series Trapper John M.D. Bubba is Director of dance at Foothill College, the first tenure track position hired in dance and founder and artistic director of the award winning Foothill Repertory Dance Company.
At Foothill College, Gong established a Scholarship continuing Dance Studies, won national recognition for his Dance and Cheer Teams from United Spirit Association, and 4 consecutive Olympiad of the Arts First Place Honors for his mentoring of Student Choreographers.. Implementing collaboration, workshops, dance research and exchange, Bubba has brought dance residencies and artists including Alvin Ailey, Gregory Hines, Pilobolus, and The Bolshoi Ballet Company to FOOTHILL.
Presently, he is on the Adjudicating Dance Fellowship Panel of Silicon Valley Arts Council.

Barbara Shewfelt teaches in both the Biology Department and the Dance Department at Foothill College. As an undergraduate, she earned a bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara as a double major in both disciplines, and went on to complete a master's degree in dance from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and a master's degree in biology from Stanford University with a research specialization in neuroscience.
Barbara also spent five years as a competitive ballroom dancer. She has taught at Foothill for 15 years, offering popular classes in biology, ballet, stretching and social dance.
