Theatre Arts     2009-2010

The Foothill College Department of Theatre Arts is an important center for theatre training, encompassing acting, performance, literature, history and technical studies. Branches of the Foothill Theatre Arts Department include the Foothill Theatre Conservatory, Theatre Technology, Foothill Music Theatre and the general program. Each quarter the department presents one or more major productions. All members of the community may audition for most of these productions.

The General Program: The Theatre Department operates a theatre program for the non-theatre major, consisting of theatre appreciation, studio-acting classes, playwriting, and all production related classes, offered during the day and evenings.

The Foothill Theatre Conservatory: A comprehensive and integrated program for the dedicated student, provides intensive instruction in acting, voice, movement, literature, history, master classes and production processes. The Conservatory is intended for students seriously interested in an intensive investigation of all areas of theatre. The A.A. degree is available through participation in the Conservatory or through the Theatre Technology program.

Career Opportunities
The Foothill Theatre major prepares the student to continue studies at a four-year institution, transfer into more specialized performance (stage and on-camera) training, or to apprentice or work in the performing arts industry. Foothill Theatre Arts also maintains internship relationships with several performance companies.
