The Child Development Academy is designed to help students prepare for the first level of six State Child Development Permits. The Child Development Assistant Permit authorizes the holder to care for and assist in the development and instruction of children in a childcare program.
The program is instruction-base highlighting Principles &s Practices of Teaching Young Children, Positive Behavior Management; Child, Family & Community as well as Planning Creative Art Activities for Children. Following instruction is a tutoring and group study component where the program offers field experience such as volunteering at a high quality pre-school or child care programs. During the program students are assisted in obtaining financial aid, textbooks, class materials and in fulfilling requirements for field experience participation including finger printing and TB testing.
2- Child Development Weekend Academy
This Academy takes place at Central County Occupational Center (CCOC) and meets both Saturday's and Sunday's every three weeks.
3- Child Development Weekly Academy
This Academy takes place once a week in the evenings for 12 weeks at CCOC. Students will take the following courses:
Child Development 1: Prenatal to Early Childhood
Child Development 2: Middle Childhood to Adolescence
