Introduction

There are two basic types of employment for international students in F-1 status: on-campus employment and off-campus employment.

It is a violation of immigration regulations for F-1 students to work off-campus unless they have obtained authorization from the international student advisor, on page 3 of the I-20, or from DHS.

If you are looking for more detailed information about various employment types and specific application procedures, please attend one of the Practical Training Workshops offered throughout the academic year.
