Variety of Programs and Events

Over the past several years, the Japanese Cultural Center has offered the following events and programs to the public:

 
  • Seasonal festivals in fall and spring
  • Authentic Japanese performing arts and music presentations
  • Visiting artists from Japan demonstrating brush painting ceramics, calligraphy, yuzen, confectionery art, and tea ceremony
  • Japanese cultural workshops in ikebana (floral art), wasai (kimono sewing), chanoyu (tea ceremony), sumie (ink brush painting), and shodo (calligraphy)
  • Performances by local Japanese artists
  • Business talk presentations
  • Japanese film series
  • Social events sponsored by students of Japanese language/culture and Center volunteers
  • Exhibits and displays in the Center and at Hubert H. Semans Library at Foothill College
  • General interest presentations on travel in Japan, sushi making, kimono fashion show, flower viewing, bamboo garden tours and child rearing in Japan A

The programs of the Japanese Cultural Center are sustained by funds from membership contributions and donations to the Friends of the Japanese Cultural Center.
