The Language Arts Division at Foothill College, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, is dedicated to developing the language and critical thinking skills necessary for students to succeed in their academic classes and in the workplace, fostering global understanding and an appreciation for diverse cultures, and promoting in students a deeper understanding of themselves and others through literature.

Ongoing Programs
Puente: a national-award winning program that has helped thousands of students reach their dreams of college success; Mfumo: a peer support program with emphasis on African American literature and writers; English 100-110 Learning Communities: co-requisite English and counseling classes, which together provide students the many benefits of collaborative learning; Campus Abroad: an overseas program which offers students opportunities for attaining global perspectives and fluency in another language.
