About the Creative Writing Department
Foothill College is one of only five community colleges in the state which offers
Associate Degrees in Creative
Writing. Foothill's program is one of the most comprehensive in the state with
creative writing courses in short story, poetry, memoir, performing arts, and novel,
in addition to the required introduction to creative writing course. Foothill also
offers Creative Writing Certificates. Several of the courses are offered on line.

Floyd Salas.
For more than three decades, Foothill College has hosted an
annual Writers' Conference at the end of June.
The conference features readings and workshops conducted by well-known poets and
prose writers. The Foothill Writers' Conference is distinguished from other
conferences by its affordability and its democratic air. The Conference is open
to all writers of every ability
