International Education Week Is Nov. 16-20
November 16, 2009 - November 20, 2009

Support multiculturalism and global awareness on campus by participating in one or several events to commemorate International Education Week (IEW). Admission to all IEW events is free.

An annual initiative mandated by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, IEW promotes the value of international education and fosters global awareness. Foothill College is proud to join colleges across the country to celebrate IEW to enhance a global perspective in campus life and strengthen mutual understanding.

International food will be served by Fresh & Natural throughout the week in the Foothill Cafe, and the following events will be presented:
  • Monday, Nov. 16, Noon--“Stress and the International Traveler: Restoring Calm & Resilience”
    Workshop & International Tea Reception in the Student Lounge;
  • Tuesday, Nov. 17, Noon--"Slumdog Millionaire" film screening and introduction by the Foothill Indian Student Association (FISA) in the Campus Center Dining Room;
  • Wednesday, Nov. 18, Noon--"Breaking the Stereotypes" Country Fair & ASFC Heritage Month Series Showcase in the Campus Center Dining Room;
  • Thursday, Nov. 19, Noon--"Preparing Yourself for Global Careers: International Business & Cultural Implications" with Helena Ting and Kristel Nazzal in the Student Lounge; and
  • Friday, Nov. 20, 12:30 p.m.--"Beyond the F-1: Pursuing the H-1B & Permanent Residence After Graduation" with immigration lawyer Gali Gordon in the Student Lounge.


IEW is sponsored by the Foothill IEW Planning Committee, International Programs Office, Associated Students of Foothill College, Foothill Heritage Month Series, Foothill Indian Student Association, and International Student Connection club.
