The Foothill Center for a Sustainable Future presents a screening of of the the film "Gasland: Can You Light Your Water on Fire?" May 10 at noon in the Hearthside Lounge.
Part mystery, part travelogue and part banjo showdown, "Gasland" documents a cross-country odyssey by filmmaker John Fox to find out if the controversial process of hydraulic fracturing, a form of gas drilling, is actually safe. Traveling across 24 states to interview families, EPA whistleblowers, congressmen and scientists in vast drilling areas, Fox unearths a shocking story about a practice that is understudied and inadequately regulated. "Gasland" races to find answers about fracking before it's too late. The film won the Special Jury Prize Documentary Award at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. 106 mins.
