Submit your 2012-2013 FAFSA Renewal online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov no later than
Sept. 4 if you'll be attending college after Spring Quarter 2012.
Cal Grant eligibility could add up to $1,473 to your Foothill College financial aid award.
Cal Grants are funded by the state with a small portion of funding from the Federal Government through the Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership Program (LEAP). Cal Grant awards do not have to be paid back.
If you did not submit Cal Grant application materials by the priority deadline (March 2, 2012), there is a secondary deadline, specifically for California Community College students on
Sept. 4. Submit the required forms before the
Sept. 4 deadline to be considered for this specific Cal Grant. Be aware that there will be a limited number of these grants available.
Upon transfer to a California four-year college or university, you may receive up to $12,192 in addition to the basic $1,473 award. There are three different Cal Grants: Cal Grant A, B and C.
- Cal Grant A pays for tuition and fees at a four-year institution. Eligible students may place the award on reserve for up to two years while attending community college;
- The student who is awarded Cal Grant B may receive the living allowance ($1,473) at community college; upon transfer to a four-year institution, he/she continues to receive the living allowance plus the tuition award in the same amount as the Cal Grant A; and
- Cal Grant C recipients must be enrolled in a vocational or technical program and receive $547 per year for a maximum of two years.
- Restrictions apply and amounts award are subject to change.
