Foothill Music Theatre and students enrolled in the Foothill College Theatre Arts Department present Spring Awakening
, the Tony-Award winning rock musical that's based on Frank Wedekind's 1891 controversial expressionist play, Feb. 21 through March 10
in the Lohman Theatre at Foothill College. Directed by Foothill College Vocal Instructor Milissa Carey, Spring Awakening
celebrates the unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood with a power, poignancy, and passion that you will never forget. NOTE: This production includes sexual themes and some explicit lyrics that parents may find unsuitable for younger children. Parental guidance is recommended.
Set in late-19th century Germany, Spring Awakening
tells the story of teenagers discovering sexuality. The musical features alternative rock as part of the folk-infused rock score. The show features music by Duncan Sheik with lyrics by Steven Sater.
Thursday evening performances are Feb. 21, 28 and March 7 at 7:30 p.m.
Friday and Saturday evening shows are Feb. 22, 23, March 1, 2, 8 and 9 at 8 p.m.
Sunday matinees are Feb. 24, March 3 and 10 at 2 p.m.
Foothill's Spring Awakening
features Casey Ellis, Jeremy Griffith, Dana Johnson, Justin Karr, Brandon Leland, Juliana Lustenader, Carissa Ryan Mardesich, McElravy, Jacob Marker, Lyn Meheula, Dillon Mena, Caitlin Papp, Jason Rehklau, Mark Sanders, Taylor Sanders, Holly Smolik and Warren Wernick. The production includes musical direction by Mark Hanson, choreography by Amanda Folena, scenic design by Carlos Acevedo and costume design by Julie Engelbrecht.
Tickets are $28, general admission; $20, seniors and students; $13, students with OwlCard and Foothill College personnel (in-person purchase only) Tickets to all Thursday performances are $20, general admission; $10, students and Foothill personnel. Parking Lots 1 and 8 provide stair and no-stair access to the theatre. Patrons must purchase the required campus parking permit for $3.
