Theatre Arts (2012-2013)
The Department of Theatre Arts is an important center for theatre training encompassing acting, performance, literature, design and technical studies. Branches of the Theatre Arts Department include Theatre Technology, Foothill Music Theatre and the general studies program for both majors and non-majors.
The Theatre Department operates a theatre program for both non-theatre major and theatre majors, consisting of theatre appreciation, multi-cultural theatre studies studio-acting classes, and all production related classes, offered during the day and evenings.
 
Program Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to seamlessly and integrally contribute to any further educational or workforce experience in their prescribed area of the performing arts with minimal fundamental adjustment period. Matriculating students will be able to critically assess his or her role in prescribed performing arts circumstance and promote its furtherance appropriately with creative solutions.
Students will progress and be able to employ skill sets of collaboration relevant to multiple arenas of alliance or teamwork. The matchless demands of developing collaborative art provides students germane insights applicable to interpreting personal dynamics in conjunction with content assessment, promoting students engagement skills of unique perspective and critical assessment.
 
Career Opportunities
The Theatre program prepares the student to continue studies at a four-year institution, transfer into more specialized performance (stage and on-camera) training, or to apprentice or work in the performing arts industry. Graduates have opportunities to pursue careers as stage and film actors, directors, producers, stage managers, run crew, make-up artists, teachers, artistic directors, casting directors, and more.

Associate Degree Requirements:
English proficiency: ENGL 1A, 1AH, 1S & 1T, ESLL 26 or equivalent.
Mathematics proficiency: MATH 57, 105, 108 or equivalent.
A minimum of 90 units is required* to include:
All Foothill General Education requirements (30 Units)
Core courses (38 Units) )
Support courses (12 Units)

*Additional elective course work may be necessary to meet the 90-unit minimum requirement for the associate degree.

NOTE: All courses pertaining to the major must be taken for a letter grade. In addition, a GPA of 2.0 or higher is required in all courses for the degree or certificates.
