Criteria:Active participation each quarter the course is repeated will enhance the student's performance skills. These include: A. Ability to execute tee shots, fairway shots, short game skills, bunker shots and putting B. Developing more expertise and playing competency C. Better understanding of and ability to apply the rules in playing situations D. Better able to manage the mental part of the game

1. Description -
Competitive intercollegiate golf working toward skill development, athletic scholarship and career opportunities.
Prerequisite: None
Co-requisite: None
Advisory: Not open to students with credit in H P 40G.

2. Course Objectives -
The student will be able to:
  1. demonstrate the ability to recognize and correct swing faults.
  2. demonstrate with competence the golf skills necessary to play competitive golf.
  3. demonstrate self confidence when playing in competitive environments.
  4. apply the rules of golf in competitive situations.
  5. demonstrate an improvement in scoring.

  1. set of golf clubs and practice balls
  2. practice facilities (driving range; putting and pitching green)
  3. golf courses (will be arranged)

    2. Uphill, downhill, sidehill lies; fade, draw and knockdown techniques
    3. Recovery shots from rough, hard pan, tight lies

    1. Rules for stroke play
    2. Procedures for keeping opponents score
  4. Strategy
    1. Preparation for competition, warm-up
    2. Course knowledge
    3. Course management, stroke savers
    4. Evaluating your competition
    5. Understanding individual scores in relation to team competition
  5. Stress and Pressure
    1. How to stay relaxed and focused
    2. How to put pressure on opponent
